Reviews for Janome Treadle Powered Sewing Machine 712T I live off of the grid, with a teeny tiny electrical system. Electricity is at a premium here, and this sewing machine is awesome! I love it; it's easy to use and so fun! It's a lot quieter than an electric machine, and because it has its own table, there is a lot less fuss setting it up. Great quality machine--I love it!
Double check with the merchant to make sure that the belt comes with the machine. :) They were really helpful when I sent them an e-mail letting them know that I didn't have a belt. I got lucky and found a cabinet with a belt (an old one), but when I told the company that it wasn't included, they got back to me right away and told me they'd ship one. I haven't received it yet, but I am sure that I will.

first of all, this machine is amazing!! before purchasing this, i was using an older White machine and it was electric...i was always having problems with the bobbin and threading and it not working etc. i have no had one problem since i first started using this machine (about 2 months ago now). i do need to add that this machine sees daily use...we cloth diaper in our family and i have been making an entire stash for my son and my soon to be daughter.

Whoever that was, they did not include the treadle belt AS ADVERTISED, and when I contacted them, I was told that "the treadle belt is not usually included with the machine."
According to the hype, a motor can be purchased separately, but to run the machine with a treadle, the best bet is to find an old Singer cabinet with the treadle in working order. So when your machine arrives, you want to start using it, and the question will be, will it fit in this cabinet? Or, do I have to wait until I can find the right cabinet to use the machine? Fortunately, my cabinet required only a very slight modification.
